How Much Does a Website Cost in Ranchi?

Ask five developers in Ranchi what a website costs and you will hear five numbers between β‚Ή5,000 and β‚Ή5 lakh. All of them can be honest. Here is what actually sits behind the number, so you can compare quotes that look nothing alike.

Working through costs with a calculator, a phone and printed paperwork

The question we hear most often on the phone is also the one with the least useful short answer. "How much for a website?" is a little like "how much for a house?" β€” it depends on how many rooms, who designs it, and whether you want the wiring done properly.

What we can do is take the mystery out of it. A website quote is the sum of a handful of decisions, and once you know what they are, you can read any quote β€” ours or anyone else's β€” and see exactly what you are being offered.

What actually moves the price

Almost every rupee in a website quote comes from one of these. When two quotes differ wildly, it is nearly always because they have made different assumptions here, not because one developer is greedy.

  • Number of pages. A five-page site and a forty-page site are different jobs. Each page needs its layout, its content placed, and its mobile view checked.
  • Template or custom design. A bought theme with your logo dropped in is quick. A design worked out around how your customers browse and enquire takes longer and costs more β€” and is usually what separates a site that gets calls from one that does not.
  • Who updates it afterwards. If you want to change prices, notices or photos yourself, the site needs a content management system set up and you need to be shown how to use it.
  • Selling online. Products, a cart, a payment gateway, shipping rules and GST invoices move a site into a different bracket.
  • Custom features. Admission forms that feed a dashboard, booking with time slots, a member login, a calculator, an integration with your existing software β€” each is built, not installed.
  • Content. Who writes the words and who supplies the photographs. Many quotes quietly assume you will provide both.
  • Speed and search groundwork. Compressed images, proper page titles, schema and a sitemap are not visible on the day, and they are exactly the corners a cheap quote cuts.

Typical ranges in Ranchi in 2026

These are the broad bands quotes fall into across the market here, not a price list. Treat them as a way to sense-check a quote, not as a promise from anyone.

  • A basic template site, a few pages, little or no customisation: roughly β‚Ή5,000 to β‚Ή10,000.
  • A proper small-business site β€” custom-designed, mobile-first, around ten pages, enquiry forms, search basics done: roughly β‚Ή10,000 to β‚Ή30,000.
  • A larger site with a blog or content system you update yourself, more pages and integrations: roughly β‚Ή20,000 to β‚Ή60,000.
  • An online store with payments, product management and delivery rules: commonly β‚Ή40,000 to β‚Ή1.5 lakh, depending mostly on the catalogue and the integrations.
  • A custom web application β€” portals, dashboards, booking or management systems built around your workflow: quoted per project, usually from about β‚Ή75,000 upwards.

What our own packages cost

We publish our prices on the home page, because a business owner should not have to make three phone calls to find out whether we are in budget.

  • Seed β€” β‚Ή11,999, one-time. Up to a 10-page website, domain and hosting setup, one professional email inbox, mobile-friendly design and two rounds of revisions.
  • Sapling β€” β‚Ή19,999, one-time. Up to 15 pages plus a blog you can update yourself, domain and hosting with five email inboxes, SEO setup with schema and a sitemap, enquiry and booking forms, and three rounds of revisions.
  • Orchard β€” quoted per project. Ecommerce or a web application, VPS hosting and scaling, payment gateway integration, with a mobile app and ongoing SEO and maintenance available alongside.

The full comparison is in the Pricing section of our home page. If your project does not fit neatly into one of the three, that is normal β€” tell us what it needs to do and we will quote that.

The yearly costs nobody puts in the quote

The build is a one-time cost. A website also has running costs, and these are where most of the unpleasant surprises come from β€” usually in year two.

  • Domain renewal, every year. A .in or .com typically costs from several hundred to around β‚Ή1,500 a year to renew. Check the renewal price, not the first-year offer.
  • Hosting renewal. Introductory hosting rates routinely double or triple on renewal. Ask what year two costs before you agree to year one.
  • Business email, if it is billed per inbox.
  • SSL β€” the padlock. This should be included free with any decent hosting now. If someone is charging separately for it every year, ask why.
  • Maintenance: updates, security patches, backups and small changes. You can do without a plan, but somebody has to do the work, and a site that is never updated is the one that gets hacked.

Red flags in a cheap quote

Most of the rebuilds we take on in Ranchi began as a quote that looked like a bargain. The problems are rarely the design. They are these:

  1. The domain is registered in the developer's name, not yours. If you fall out, or they disappear, your business address on the internet goes with them. Insist on your own name and your own login.
  2. You are never given access to the hosting or the files. A site you cannot move is a site you are renting.
  3. No mention of the renewal costs, or a hosting plan bundled "free for the first year" with no figure for the second.
  4. Unlimited revisions promised at a very low price. Something has to give, and it is usually the quality of each round.
  5. No mobile check. Most visitors here arrive on a mid-range Android phone over mobile data. A site that is only ever reviewed on a desktop monitor has not been tested for the people who will use it.

What to ask before you pay an advance

Five questions will tell you more about a quote than its total:

  • Whose name will the domain and hosting be in, and will I have my own login to both?
  • What exactly is included β€” how many pages, who writes the text, who supplies the photos?
  • What will I pay every year after launch, and to whom?
  • How many rounds of changes are included, and what does an extra change cost?
  • Will I be able to update anything myself, and will you show me how?

A developer who answers all five clearly, in writing, is worth more than a lower number from one who does not. And if you would like a second opinion on a quote you already have, send it to us β€” we will tell you honestly whether it is fair, even if it is not ours.
